BrightMind – Light your way to mindful breaks

As part of our final project in Storydoing/Physical Computing, we developed BrightMind, a lamp designed to enhance focus and breaks using the Pomodoro technique. The lamp aims to help students and office workers, to improve their mental health through structured breaks.

Although our prototype doesn’t yet incorporate tomato waste, it’s something we aim to integrate in future iterations for a more sustainable design. The current lamp is made from reclaimed materials such as wood, leather, and bike spokes, with the goal of eventually making it even more eco-friendly.

From a craftsmanship perspective, the project required significant hands-on work. I contributed extensively to shaping the lamp’s structure, particularly the challenge of bending and fitting the bike spokes to create a stable base. The experience of working with various tools and materials greatly enhanced my practical skills and deepened my understanding of product development.
